Definition
Natural Language Processing (NLP) is the field of AI focused on enabling computers to understand, interpret, and generate human language. Before the LLM era, NLP relied on rule-based systems and statistical models. Today, transformer-based LLMs have largely superseded classical NLP approaches and can perform tasks like translation, summarization, and question answering at near-human levels.
