Prompt engineering is the practice of designing and refining inputs to AI models in order to get more accurate, useful, or specific outputs. Techniques include few-shot examples, chain-of-thought reasoning, role assignment, and structured formatting. As models improve, less engineering is needed — but knowing how to write good prompts remains a high-leverage skill.
